Does my phone need to be close by all the time?
The band captures and holds onto data by itself, but the free Hume Health app (iOS and Android) is what syncs it and displays your daily insights. Your phone doesn't need to stay within range constantly — the band keeps several days of readings in storage and syncs the instant your phone reconnects.
Can it handle getting wet?
Yes. An IP68 rating on the Hume Band means it stays dustproof and can survive 1 meter of water for up to 2 hours at a stretch. Wearing it through a shower, a swim, or a hard workout won't cause any issue.
How dependable are the sensor readings?
The Hume Band runs 5 LEDs alongside 4 photodiodes, sampling biometric signals more frequently than most comparable wearables, with accuracy checked through internal lab testing and independent third-party comparisons. As with any optical wrist sensor, results can shift slightly with fit, skin tone, and motion — for the steadiest readings, wear it snug, roughly a finger's width above the wrist bone.
